A resident suffered minor injuries Tuesday night in a fire that caused an estimated $750,000 damage to a custom home near Patrick Lane and Torrey Pines Drive, the Clark County Fire Department said.
The cause is under investigation.
The fire was reported at about 11:45 p.m. at the single-story house in the 6400 block of Ponderosa Way, fire officials said.
Firefighters found heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage and discovered that the fire had already spread into the attic, officials said. The closest hydrant was 1,000 feet away, and water supply issues were further complicated when a private vehicle ran over a supply line, causing it to burst, officials said.
The fire was brought under control at 1:05 a.m. Wednesday, official said.
Two people were home when the fire broke out, and one suffered minor injuries but was not taken to the hospital, officials said.
A total of 16 trucks and 48 firefighters from the Clark County Fire Department and Las Vegas Fire and Rescue battled the two-alarm blaze.

Looks like we need more fire hydrants there....
Looks like we need a fire dept that is not scared to battle a house fire from inside...
What happened to relay pumping especially if you had 16 trucks there , or hose jackets and diverting traffic ,or rotate the engines? It should have never taken 45 mins or more to attack the fire. Sorry guys, sounds to me someone really dropped the ball here . Oh, and what happened to pre plans, shouldn't the fire dept already know that the fire hydrant was a 1000ft. away?
Go take a look on Google maps (satellite view) of the 6400 block of Ponderosa Way. There are 3 houses there, all look very customized. Wonder which one was incinerated. ... and why does the paper never give the exact address; it's not like I can't drive out there and see with one burned up. Why hide the location?
