Police investigating early morning shooting in northeast valley

Metro Police are investigating a shooting early Friday on Gaviota Avenue, near East Stewart Avenue and North Pecos Road. Just before 4 a.m., several calls to 911 reported gunshots on the 3900 block of Gaviota Avenue, police said. When officers arrived, they spotted a vehicle on the side of the road with its driver’s side door open, Metro Officer Jose Hernandez said. After searching near the vehicle, they found a male who had been shot multiple times, police said. “It appears as though the victim was shot while sitting in the vehicle and then made it out,” Hernandez said.
