Construction projects to cause traffic detours, delays

Construction projects at the airport connector and on Decatur Boulevard will cause traffic detours starting next week, Clark County officials said.

Bridge work will result in the closure of the 215 Beltway East exit ramp leading to the airport connector and the on-ramp from the airport connector to 215 East from 7 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. Monday.

A road project on Decatur Boulevard, meanwhile, will close a northbound travel lane at the 215 Beltway for a week starting Monday.

Clark County spokesman Dan Kulin said drivers attempting to exit the 215 Beltway East onto the airport connector will be detoured to the Warm Springs Road exit, where they can access the beltway. Drivers headed toward the the 215 Beltway East on-ramp will be detoured to an exit at Hidden Well Road.

The airport connector bridge is the first of five bridges that will be expanded as part of a federally funded county Public Works project that will be completed in January 2014, Kulin said.

The construction on Decatur Boulevard is part of a project that will create new highway interchanges at Jones and Decatur boulevards, as well as a new bridge carrying Bradley Road over the 215 Beltway, Kulin said.

Kulin said drivers on Decatur Boulevard should expect traffic delays.
