Nearly 3,000 Clark County School District students could be rezoned in an effort to alleviate severe crowding in southwest valley schools. For more than two hours Wednesday morning, the Clark County School Board deliberated several proposals to help its jampacked schools, including redrawing the district's attendance zone map, creating portable campuses and reverting to double sessions or a year-round schedule. In the end however, the School Board seemed likely to fall back on familiar tactics: rezoning students from crowded campuses and adding more portable classrooms. The board is expected to make its final decision in late February. Rezoning and adding ...

I'll bet parents in that area were among the most vocal in complaining that they didn't want their taxes raised and voted down the school bond.
Scott,
I would not agree with your assessment. I live in the affected zone and every parent I spoke with supported the tax measure. These conversations were held prior to the vote and well before the measures now being considered.
Now whether they voted at all is another matter. I can only speak for my wife and I knowing that we both supported and voted for the measure.
Tough to look back now. As a district, they must look forward and try to figure this out. The enrollment is only going to increase. Forbuss has over 1200 students in a building meant for 750. Year round is only going to get it down to 1000 at one time. Still above capacity and not factoring for any growth.
Our children deserve better. The teachers, staff and administration at Forbuss are awesome. It now rests in the hands of the administration and school board to give them that opportunity to succeed in a positive learning environment.
Do they have classes in baby sitting, cocktail waitressing, and valet parking? That's about all the job opportunities in this town. If you want your kids turning out as dumbbells, stay here. Otherwise, move. Do your kids a favor...
