Two arrested in death of man after altercation at liquor store

Updated Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2013 | 2:53 p.m.

Two men were arrested today in the death of a man after an altercation at a liquor store near Twain Avenue and Swenson Street, Metro Police said.

Genaro Padilla Jr., 30, and Kenneth Glosson, 56, both of Las Vegas, were booked into the Clark County Detention Center on counts of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon, police said.

Police received reports about 5:40 p.m. Monday of a person being beaten by two people in the 700 block of East Twain Avenue.

When officers arrived, they found a man, identified as Deng Kuangmabior, 30, on the sidewalk suffering from stab wounds and blunt force trauma, police said. The victim was transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, where he later died.

A Metro Police arrest report alleges the following:

Kuangmabior had been in an altercation with Padilla at the Your Stop liquor store moments before he was beaten. Store video surveillance showed Kuangmabior walk in carrying a yellow pole and exchange words with Padilla, a clerk at the store, who took the pole from him.

Kuangmabior ran out of the store and Padilla chased after him and appeared to hit him from behind. A second store employee who witnessed the altercation followed Padilla out and saw him hit Kuangmabior several times. The employee then saw a man nearby run and tackle the victim and start attacking him.

The employee said he and Padilla returned to the liquor store, where the employee hid the pole in the ceiling. Later, the second suspect appeared to walk into Your Stop, speak with Padilla, shake hands and leave.

Patrol officers and the employee later identified the second suspect as Glosson. Officers found Glosson in a portable bathroom at Molasky Park. He had a box cutter in his jacket and blood on his left palm and right fingers. There was also a blood stain on his right sleeve.

Padilla told police he had chased Kuangmabior from the store but denied hitting him with the stick.
