Pedestrian hit, killed
A 48-year-old man was struck and killed by a car Saturday night while trying to cross Warm Springs Road near Hinson Street.
Metro Police said the accident occurred around 6:15 p.m. Evidence and witness statements indicate that a Toyota SUV was traveling west on Warm Springs Road as a pedestrian tried to cross the road outside a crosswalk, police said.
The SUV hit and killed the man.
Police said the accident remains under investigation.

i dont feel bad for these people because crosswalks are made for a reason.
The pedestrian cannot tell when its clear to cross. Pedestrian need to realize, they are not visible at night until 25ft under normal conditions its difficult to stop when your not expected too, now add night, dark clothes and some who is crossing when its not clear, its just about impossible to stop with any degree of safety.
The Street Lights have been out for months. Its pitch dark and to bad for the person crossing the steet that the city did not seem to care to fix them. Im sure they will now get fixed.
What crosswalk? I live near the area. There are NO crosswalks within several blocks of that intersection. In fact, I don't know of any crosswalks within a 1 mile radius of that intersection. You can't go walking anywhere in the area unless you cross a street with no crosswalk - whether it's at a corner or in the middle of a block. And, no one is going to (only) walk around the block (in either direction) without crossing a street. That gets very boring very fast.
In the first week of the new year how many people have been killed in Vegas and the greater metro area? This is insane.

Don't know what kind of map you are using, but the marked crosswalk at Dean Martin is 0.55 miles away and the marked crosswalk at Deactur is 0.63 miles away. So there's two marked crosswalks within 1 mile of Hinson.
