The 22-foot-long monster of a pink 1959 Cadillac swings into the parking lot of the T-Bird Lounge and Restaurant on South Eastern Avenue in the dim, early hours of a Wednesday morning. This classic beauty of a car is too long for a parking space, so it glides to a stop at the curb. John Bergler steps out and heads into the restaurant about 15 minutes before the 7 a.m. breakfast; he’s one of the last to arrive. I like watching old Perry Mason reruns just to see the old CADS T Birds and Lincolns (mostly convertibles) Mason and Paul Drake would drive. Getting up at 7 am is stupid unless you have to however.
Guys...please volunteer in the high school auto programs to help kids learn to love cars as much as you do. When I taught at Legacy a rod enthusiast named Cyrus Drew and his club came every other Saturday to an open shop day to help the guys and girls build cars. They still talk about it on Facebook as the best of their high school experience, many are in the trade, several have classic projects of their own. It's a worthwhile investment of your time.
Cool! Husband had a 1958 for Fairlaine and I had a 1957 Ford 300 Custom. Sold them before we moved because of the awful drivers here!
