Man to face judge in New Year’s casino gunshot

A 20-year-old man accused of sending a New Year's Eve crowd fleeing from a gunshot inside a crowded Las Vegas Strip casino is due to face a judge on multiple felony charges.

Manuel Garcia Hill of North Las Vegas is due Thursday in Las Vegas Justice Court after police allege he pulled a .38-caliber revolver a little after 11 p.m. Monday and fired once into the floor of the Circus Circus casino.

No one was injured, but police described panicked casino patrons crowding toward exits after the shot was fired.

Two off-duty Nevada prison guards are credited with helping security guards tackle and detain Hill for police.

Witnesses said Hill fired the shot during a verbal dispute with a father about unwanted touching of his daughter.
