Letter to state GOP caucus: You have a ‘gender gap problem’

In a letter highlighting the party’s recent difficulties with female voters, a group of Republican women has accused the state Senate’s Republican leader of sidelining the caucus’s only woman. In the letter to Senate Minority Leader Michael Roberson dated Tuesday, the group of Republican women complained that Sen. Barbara Cegavske, the longest serving state senator, lost her plum seat on the Senate Finance Committee and did not receive a position in caucus leadership. The Republican Party “has a gender gap problem,” said the letter, signed by 12 leaders of GOP women’s groups and Sue Lowden, a former state senator and ...

  1. Looks like GOP stands for Grumpy Old Paternity.

  2. Upon coming to Nevada, back in 1995, it came abundantly clear to me, as well as my lady peers, that it had a male oriented culture. It seemed more so in the North, than in the South. Although Southern Nevada, Reno, and Carson City, tend to be more diverse, you have many of the old school, well Churched indoctrinated, in much of Northern Nevada and the rurals, that continues to hold males as more desireable, more "...able to do the job," and prompt men to lead and take control.

In the Northern, rural parts of Nevada, there are still communities that have no blacks or Middle Easterners living there, and gays dare to present themselves. These areas are where flag waving, Bible thumping, GOPers are most prevalent. So if you are wanting to live in a land where the likes of Archie Bunker of CBS's "All in the Family" dominate (exception is Reno and Carson City), then settle in Northern Nevada and the rurals. Women and minorities "still know their place" there, and the men make sure of it.

That is what it is, folks.
    Blessings and Peace,
    Star

  3. "Star"; you called it precisely right!!!

  4. Dear Women,

While we republican men appreciate your valuable contributions to human civilization, particularly in the areas of food preparation and child birth, the complex business of decision making and problem solving is now, and will always be, the domain of men. This has been true since the beginning of time almost 6000 years ago.

While we may argue over whether the chicken or the egg came first, on the subject of human people there is no such controversy, as God spelled it out in black and white King James English in his book. Make no mistake -- the female gender was created from a man rib.

Thus far we've had a somewhat fairly decent partnership so please don't screw it up by trying to change the natural order of things where men are in complete control. When your advice or input is wanted, we men will ask. Until then, try to keep your activities confined to the kitchen and bedroom.

    Sincerely,
    Nevada GOP

  5. There is no problem with the GOP, it is the women if they would just stay in the kitchen and the bedroom where they belong, and remember no starch in the collar honey and that dress makes you look fat..

  7. Star,

I find it ironic that you conveniently skipped over Latinos living in rural Nevada when complaining about the lack of minority representation. The Latinos have thrived in rural Nevada for centuries due to their hard work and family ethics. If Latinos can assimilate in rural Nevada, why can't the other minority groups do the same?

  10. They actually have quite a few problems. The old white man party is literally dying off as they desperately look for (younger) old white men to replace themselves. And that is a personal attack.

  11. Open Range the reason Star misses points as you present is that she's a Californian and we already know what the thoughts in California are. The state that owes over $160 billion and the people there think thier way is better.

  12. I don't care what gender or race is in the legislature, they are just a pack of big mouth, self serving hacks that spew hot air in an attempt to stay in office and promote their own party or agendas.

This is a prime example of what they are all about.

  13. One of these days, hopefully, we can return to electing leaders to the legislature instead of the whiny, self serving brats we have now.

  14. "The letter was first reported by conservative activist Chuck Muth, who has been a vocal critic of Roberson."

The article should read "The letter was manufactured by spurned consultant Chuck Muth."

Why does The Las Vegas Sun even allow an agenda driven, paid political activist like Chuck Muth to create a news story?

The GOP may or may not have a "gender issue", but using Muth's propaganda to fit a news story template borders on Journalistic Malpractice.
