Family dog dies in house fire that does $250,000 damage

Two people escaped an early morning house fire, but the family dog perished in the blaze that caused about $250,000 damage, the Clark County Fire Department said.

The fire was reported about 1:10 a.m. Thursday in the 10000 block of Willowbrook Pond Road, near Hualapai Way and Patrick Lane, officials said.

The blaze was fueled by gas in a car in the garage, but firefighters were able to put out the fire in about 45 minutes, officials said.

The two adults and three other pets were displaced by the fire. Officials said they are being assisted by the American Red Cross.
