Recycled Percussion Harlem Shake

Our town’s favorite junk rockers Recycled Percussion have joined the YouTube “Harlem Shake” phenomenon. Audience members and loyal social media followers joined the “America’s Got Talent” stars to film a video after Sunday night’s performance at The Quad, where they are the newest headliners.

Here’s the four guys’ hilarious take on “Harlem Shake” posted on YouTube:

OSCAR NIGHT: Many of the celebrities attracting attention at Sunday night’s 85th Academy Awards in Hollywood have Las Vegas connections: Chef Wolfgang Puck catered the prestigious parties; Barbra Streisand, who’ll be at the April 13 Keep Memory Alive gala, sang a moving tribute to late composer Marvin Hamlisch; and nominee Robert De Niro just opened Nobu Caesars Palace.

Plus, winner George Clooney with “Dancing With the Stars” glamour girl Stacy Keibler -- George just launched his tequila with a party at Andrea’s in Steve Wynn’s Encore; Michael Douglas, star of the Liberace biopic “Behind the Candelabra” on HBO, with wife Catherine Zeta-Jones; and ABC hosts Lara Spencer, who was Miss America Pageant chief judge here in 2011, and courageous and classy Robin Roberts, returning after her chemotherapy treatments.

Here in Las Vegas, our Variety Children’s Charity had an Oscar Experience live link from the red carpet in Hollywood to Brenden Theaters at the Palms as a fundraiser. Harrah’s headliner Mac King was presented with the Gold Heart Award recognizing his volunteer work bettering the lives of Southern Nevada children. Among the local stars on the red carpet hosted by radio DJ Chet Buchanan: chef Carla Pellegrino, Travis Cloer of “Jersey Boys” at Paris Las Vegas, Josh Strickland of “Peepshow” at Planet Hollywood and Bond girl Robbin Young from “For Your Eyes Only.”

SHE CONFUSION: People were stunned at the closing after five weeks of the theatrical nightclub above Eva Longoria’s SHe at Crystals. The owners insist that it was never intended to operate permanently as a club. It’s a confusing statement after there were tours that showed off state-of-the-art video mapping walls and DJ music booths and bleacher banquettes to watch dancing showgirls every 30 minutes in between dance music.

Here’s the first official statement: “The upstairs was never intended to operate permanently as a club, and the party has always been downstairs and will continue to be there. SHe by Morton’s, the restaurant, is great, and the club is still there and will continue to operate for special events in accordance with the business plan.”

I asked them to clarify the “never intended to operate permanently as a nightclub.” Here’s clarification: “The upper level of SHe was always intended as a dual purpose special events and nightlife venue. Capital invested in that space was meant to make it appeal specifically for that. Our experienced team with its innovative entertainment saw a lot more demand in the special-events category than for nightlife, so it was strictly a business decision.”

SEXED DOWN: Australian media are screaming that Lingerie Football League shouldn’t have been “sexed down” before its Australian launch next month. The garters, bows, lacy frills and neck chokers have been banished by our Las Vegas-headquartered LFL, now known as Legends Football League.

The Las Vegas Sin and other sexy team names remain. Head honcho Mitch Mortaza, arriving in Australia for expansion team trials, said: “There are no longer garters, chokers, lace or straps on the shorts.” The uniforms have been changed to resemble volleyball outfits.
