Former employee of domestic violence agency commits suicide

A former employee at a North Las Vegas agency that assists victims of domestic violence shot and killed himself after sexual coercion charges landed him in jail last July, officials said.

Benedetto Vitale, 60, of North Las Vegas was found in his car Thursday along Interstate 15, dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, the Clark County Coroner’s Office reported.

Vitale was arrested in late July on counts of open and gross lewdness, forgery and sexually motivated coercion. He was fired from his job as a director at SafeNest shortly after his arrest.
