Trade publication Nightclub & Bar revealed its 2013 Top 100 list of the nation's top earning nightlife venues, with the clubs and bars of the Las Vegas Strip dominating the rankings. Las Vegas is home to seven of the Top 10 establishments, and while that's down from eight in 2012, the city continues to raise the list's revenue ceiling: Top earners XS at Steve Wynn's Encore and Marquee at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas tied for first place and broke records with annual earnings topping $80 million. Twenty-one Las Vegas bars, clubs and lounges made the list, down one from ...

Many club owners in this country would disagree with you. Another Las Vegas propaganda piece.
What, exactly, would "other club owners" disagree with? That their businesses actually had higher gross sales than they reported to the IRS? This has nothing to do with "propaganda" and everything to do with gross sales.
Well, I can see this happening in Vegas. What is the average price of a cocktail in these joints? $10? $15? $20? $400 for a bottle of $35 bottle of Vodka? $45 for a double shot of Patron? (And that was in 2007). The last summer I was there, I, like a dope, paid $7 for a Miller Lite in a locals' casino. But it was a special occasion - my last time at my favorite casino!!
So don't brag too much, Reza. Those clubs are grossly over priced compared to places in Chicago or New York. And the dummy tourists will pay the money because it's Vegas and the club owners are laughing all the way to the bank.
Some of it could be propaganda since the gross sales figures are self-reported to the publication but I would guess that it all evens out since all the clubs do it. Some are public companies (or part of one) so could be public information. There's also the eyeball test and another good measurement is the level of DJs the clubs are employing, many of whom are known to be making some tidy sums these days.
My question is, how long can it last? The clubs used to pay inflated sums for fleeting celebs (remember how much Paris Hilton used to make for an appearance?) and now they are paying outlandish amounts for so-called elite DJ's who often play similar music--some of the mixes pre-recorded? gasp!--and wave their hands in the air (like they just don't care). I don't think this market will last.
Of course, Vegas clubs have been very good and jumping on the next wave so it will be interesting to see what that is...
Who bragged about anything? I was merely stating a fact. I don't know when the last time you went to a nightclub in New York or Miami, but the prices are similar. Those "dummy tourists" are enjoying something they cannot enjoy in most other places around the world; that you do not understand the model, or why others enjoy it, is a poor reason to criticize it.
The kids now are real suckers to pay for this rediculous "bottle service" and incredibly expensive drinks.
