An argument that erupted early Saturday morning in a Las Vegas Strip hotel elevator led to a stabbing and landed two men in jail, according to arrest reports released Tuesday. The suspects — Trent Wilcox, 25, and Carlos Heredia, 23 — were arrested in connection with attempted murder, police said. They remain in custody in the Clark County Detention Center without bail, according to jail records. The incident happened about 2 a.m. Saturday inside an elevator at The Hotel, a Mandalay Bay property. Stupid me but does "struck" mean stabbed???
This is quite a violent situation at a high end hotel. I don't remember The Hotel - Mandalay Bay having a security guard at the elevators checking people's hotel keys. Now, I can appreciate the security guards at elevators at places like The Bellagio.
What cowards, two against one and they still had to use a knife.
I haven't been to Las Vegas in over a month so I might be out of touch here-but did Mandalay Bay move? According to the map on this page it shows the location at Flamingo and the Strip. In any event, this is why drinks and knives don't mix! So the guy who might be drunk held down the victim while his other might be drunk buddy stabbed both of them. Idiots! I hope the attacked couple has a good lawyer!
These stabbings are getting out of hand. Can we as a society please come together and ban knives. Almost every day you hear about some stabbing going on. No more knives. Please think of the children.

Another reason to make it more difficult for honest, law-abiding citizens to buy a knife by having to submit to background checks, register ownership of the knife with the Police Department and apply for a "permit" to carry one. They are dangerous and this one anecdotal incident proves it absolutely. Yeah, sure.
Need more information. Were these losers hotel guests? Are they locals? One would expect a lot better security at high end resort. Do some follow up and get answers Sun!
That's why I like ordinary places like the Orleans - they have a security guard all day at the elevator and you need to show your room key. Seems these 'high-end' places are too cheap to spend some money to provide a bit more security. Heck, even the Mirage had a guard at the elevator but only in the evening.. I guess they thought no one thinks of trying to break into rooms during the day, huh? Stick to the Orleans - it's a great place.
What came first...The Mandalay Player's Club card or the blanket immigration amnesty?
My wife and I were guests at THE Hotel just last week, checked out Valentine's Day...two days before this incident. To say "Shocking" or "Horrifying" is not even close. I will say, in 4 days as guests at THE Hotel, we passed a security person each time we left the casino area and walked back to THE Hotel. Never saw the guy move. Not once did anyone ask to see so much as a room key. Once you got past that guard, there is no one to see from the staff. Those hallways and elevator area are dark (moody atmosphere, I suppose). Perfect place for an attack. I especially like the response of the spokesperson for MGM Resorts. "Our security officers were already in the area and were on scene very quickly to assist and hold the suspects until police arrived..." Yeah, 'we were right there to mop up the blood and call 911.'
