WASHINGTON — The White House is downplaying its draft immigration proposal as merely a backup plan if lawmakers don't come up with an overhaul of their own. It won't be necessary, Republican and Democratic lawmakers alike are telling the Obama administration. White House chief of staff Denis McDonough said Sunday that President Barack Obama wants to "be prepared" in case the small bipartisan group of senators fails to devise a plan for the estimated 11 million illegal immigrants in the United States. In response, lawmakers assured the White House they are working on their own plan — and warned that ...

...How we ended up with 11,000,000 or so people without a documented status?...is set to happen when you have the greatest democracy and the richest country on earth-And the mother of all drug consumption-sharing a border when one of the poorest and not so free of corruption -drug producing and transfer cartel prone Mexico.
In addition a short of cheap labor hungry manufacturing an green fields enterprises that would do almost the imposible to keep their business going...and of course Mexicans and other Latinoamericans with no other honest recourse and in abscense of a comprehencsive inmmigration reform just would cross the border ilegaly -if necesary- or would overstay their visas to fill in this void...
So I applaud President Obama who would rather choose to fix this problem the humanly way possible. At the same time that his plan would give a Lady of Liberty welcome to inmigrants dream of a better future. Let's not forget many of this immigrants have been here for years working and paying into the social security system without recourse..their sons and daughters and sometimes spouses born and raised here also. In addition if aproved this inmmigration reform would have applicants pay up to obtain legal status and or a path to citizenship if free of criminal record and after pay back taxes -if so applicable. Nothing is free...
Or on the other hand-the other ''solution'' as some Republicans in Congress want-have them self-deport boxed and expelled just as the Germans did with the Jews...not my dream of a Democracy and just system!! Let's learn a lesson from the greatest Republican of all- Ronald Reagan.
