Instant Analysis: Momentum from this win could give Rebels much-needed boost

Maybe this will be the victory that changes the UNLV basketball team’s fortunes. The Rebels trailed visiting San Diego State Saturday by 11 points in the first half, but responded, even though their backs were against the wall, in rallying for a 72-70 victory. They showed a toughness that has been glaringly missing — especially on the road — in the past few weeks and weren’t going to be pushed around on their home court. A desperate UNLV team in a so-called must-win game showed they have plenty of fight left. Anthony Bennett scored eight straight points to open the ...

  1. oh if only this team could play at home every game. it's like night and day at home vs the road.

  2. We won..... Does that still mean we want to fire Dave Rice? I'm confused.

    Go Rebels!

  3. Colorado State beat Air Force on the road today. We know what Air Force did to UNLV the other night. The really good teams find a way to win at home and on the road even on bad nights like the Tarkanian teams. The mediocre teams find a way to get blown out on the road by other mediocre teams.

  4. I'm glad I don't have to toss my rebel stuff. Great game it was fun being there! Lots of SDST fans going home sad :(

  5. Good win, now keep doing that...we have no room for error Rebels!

  6. Beware the Trolls. Please don't feed them.

  7. Rebels win? Five comments. Rebels lose? Fifty-five comments.

Excellent team effort tonight Rebels. Even from nosebleeds in Section 208, surrounded by SDSU fans, it was obvious, especially in the second half. The effort was appreciated, the win was a bonus.

    Here's to finishing strong. Re-bels!

  8. LMFAO, I don't care about comments, I care about wins. The easiest way to shut up critics is to WIN. As long as the Rebels keep winning, it's LOGICAL that the comments will be less. Lose, then fans complain...as we should. Whether they're playing at home or on the road, losing is unacceptable.

  9. Get off your high horse, Jeffe!!!

95% of the people you call trolls are people that care way more than you do about the Rebels!! Their passion causes them to be pained when they identify ways that Rebs could be better!! When they know what these young men are capable of when they put their minds and hearts into it, it is frustrating when that doesn't happen!! It is you that sugarcoats everything and pull the rah-rah, we'll get em next time attitude that would allow them to become satisfied with mediocrity and fail to push for excellence. We may not ever get perfection but there is nothing wrong in striving for it!!

So go away with your self righteous attitude and take James Reza with you!!!
    Yours, Larry Ramsey.
