Fire does $20,000 damage to duplex in northeast valley

One person escaped injury in a fire early Thursday morning that caused $20,000 in damage at a northeast valley home, the Clark County Fire Department reported.

Firefighters were called to the home in the 4600 block of Lake Mead Boulevard just after midnight. The fire was in one half of a duplex, and was extinguished within minutes, fire officials said.

One person was displaced by the blaze. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, officials said.
