Fields set in upcoming municipal elections

Although one campaign season just ended, a slew of candidates in Las Vegas, North Las Vegas and Henderson are starting to get political in advance of this summer’s municipal elections. The field is set for two mayoral races and several city council races after the deadline for candidates to withdraw passed earlier this week. Several of the races feature more than two candidates, leaving them two months to campaign before the April 2 primary election. 1. Looks like Hafen is the winner by default, shucks no viable candidates running against him. Good luck to the challengers raisng money for thier campaigns, one word from the godfather of Henderson and no money to anyone period, and most of us know who the godfather is.

  2. Looks like NLV is screwed again for 4 years. Having to choose between Buck and the Republican in fake Democrat clothes Lee is like choosing between the firing squad and the electric chair. Lee couldn't beat a nobody to keep his State Senate seat. Ineeda Wood needs to go as well. She's too busy trying to look like Janet Reno and opening her big yap for publicity to care about anything else, but has no real opponent.

  3. Good luck Mayor Hafen. You have done a fine job over the past years mitigating the effects of the current economy down turn to your city. Unfortunately for our North Las Vegas city and residents they are absent not just good leadership, but any leadership over the past four years and beyond during Bucks reign as councilperson. Fourteen years of pandering to select interest groups to fund her continual re-election campaigns have now placed this city in a serious financial crisis having little to do with our downturned economy. Now she violates contracts to gain time and has the manager and attorney call it an emergency to justify her actions. In addition I read she included your city in a deal agreement on the C tax issue without your knowledge. Lastly she then goes to the state legislature having little to no knowledge of the formula and requests $25 million dollars that they have been so called shorted. It's clearly easier to blame others for bad decisions and over spending. I wish you success, and for NLV a new Mayor in John Lee if we are to survive. Lets hope our residents realize this Teflon person needs to go and casts their vote by stating "the Buck stops here"

  4. Does the Sun have information about municipal judge races? If we're expected to vote on judges, where in the world do we find out about the judicial candidates??
