Sandoval names deputy chief of staff

CARSON CITY — An attorney who was once legal counsel to former Gov. Jim Gibbons is back in the governor’s office, this time as a deputy chief of staff to Gov. Brian Sandoval.

Sandoval announced Friday that Jackie Bryant, a private attorney in Carson City, will succeed Ann Wilkinson, who is returning to private law practice.

In her practice, Bryant represents government and corporate clients before the state Public Utilities Commission.

Previously, Bryant was staff counsel to the Public Utilities Commission, an attorney for the state Bureau of Consumer Protection and was general counsel to Gibbons, among other positions.

Sandoval said she “brings a wide breadth of experience in both state government and the private sector to my office.”

Wilkinson is the latest high-level executive to leave the governor’s office in the last eight months.

Senior Advisor Dale Erquiaga left in July; Chief of Staff Heidi Gansert departed in August; and Director of Community Affairs Julie Ardito resigned after only a few months on the job.
