Burglary, arson, homicide ingredients in deadly fire, police say

Updated Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013 | 5:30 p.m.

Arson, homicide under investigation

The victim found dead in a Tuesday house fire walked in on a burglary at his home, was attacked and beaten before the house was set ablaze, Metro Police now believe.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as 49-year-old Daniel Giliberto.

In a news release Wednesday afternoon, Metro said after the beating, Giliberto was taken from the home to the garage and the fire was deliberately set.

Multiple calls reporting a fire at 2:19 a.m. sent Clark County firefighters to the home in the 1800 block of Glistening Sands Drive, near Warm Springs Road and Eastern Avenue. About 15 minutes later the fire had been knocked down and police were summoned.

The coroner’s office has determined Giliberto’s cause of death was a blunt force trauma to the head.

Police said there was no indication the victim knew the attacker.

The Clark County Coroner's Office has yet to release the victim's identity or cause of death.

Metro asks anyone with information about the crime to contact homicide detectives at 702-828-3521 or to remain anonymous contact Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555.
