Couple reported threats hours before being killed, police say

Updated Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013 | 9 p.m.

Two hours before Danielle Woods and Donnie Cobb were found shot to death Sunday in their Paradise Road apartment, Woods had told Metro Police her former boyfriend had threatened her and her boyfriend and told them he’d be back, an arrest report says.

Keith Junior Barlow, 57, Las Vegas is in custody and on two counts of murder with a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, two counts of prohibited person in possession of a firearm, battery domestic violence and illegal use/possession of a stun gun.

Barlow was arrested about 5 p.m. Monday without incident at an apartment complex on North Nellis Boulevard.

The police report lays out these events taking place prior to Barlow’s arrest:

Shortly before 7 a.m. Sunday, Woods, 37, was walking in an alley near her home when Barlow approached her. Barlow, Woods said, was upset that Woods had left him and was with Cobb, 40. For the last four months she had been dating both Barlow and Cobb, which angered Barlow, a victim’s relative said.

Barlow tried unsuccessfully to get Woods to get into his car, parked nearby, and she continued on to her apartment complex.

Barlow pulled out a stun gun and held it to Woods’ neck, which caused Woods to scream. Cobb came out to help Woods. Barlow then pulled out a handgun and pointed it at Cobb, which caused Woods and Cobb to take off running. Barlow, meanwhile, left in his vehicle, telling the two he would be back.

Woods and Cobb returned to their apartment and called police to report the incident. Officers arrived, took a police report and tried unsuccessfully to locate Barlow, who had prior convictions for attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon.

It was not the first time Barlow had attacked Woods. There have been four domestic violence incidents between the two since 1997, including one in which Barlow shot at Woods and another person in a vehicle.

Less than two hours later, police believe, Barlow returned to the apartment shared by Woods and Cobb, kicked in the door shot the two multiple times.

By Monday afternoon, police located Barlow’s car and could see a handgun sticking out from under the driver’s seat. The gun, a Ruger P94 .40-caliber handgun, had rounds that matched casings found at the crime scene.

Barlow remains in Clark County Detention Center without bail. He is due in Las Vegas Justice Court for a hearing at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
