Longtime Las Vegas food critic Max Jacobson was in critical condition today at Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center after he was hit by a sport utility vehicle Monday while in a crosswalk.

Jacobson, 63, a food critic with Vegas Seven magazine, was walking in a crosswalk at Pecos Road and Windmill Parkway at about 8 a.m. when he was hit by the westbound SUV, Henderson Police said.

Police spokeswoman Kathleen Richards said the driver was not intoxicated and the investigation hasn’t determined who was at fault.

Jacobson was formerly the principal food columnist for Las Vegas Weekly and food and wine critic for Vegas Magazine, both publications affiliated with the Las Vegas Sun.
