Moapa
A Union Pacific freight train hit and killed a man today near Moapa after he attempted to cross railroad tracks on foot, company officials said.
The incident occurred about 6 a.m. west of Interstate 15 and south of Moapa, Union Pacific spokesman Aaron Hunt said. The train had originated in Los Angeles and was headed for Illinois.
Union Pacific is investigating the incident. Members of the freight train crew were relieved of their duties and were receiving counseling, Hunt said.
