Letter to the editor:

Nuke deal with Iran is a mistake

The American-Iranian nuclear deal that includes five other world powers — Russia, Germany, China, France and Great Britain — is weak because it commits Iran to curb nuclear activities in exchange for limited and gradual sanctions relief.

President Barack Obama’s approval of this deal comes as America accuses Iran of supporting terrorism. Further, this deal was secretly reached with Iran over the past year, hidden from Israel until two months ago. Accordingly, Israel is furious at this deal.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says America and the international community are giving up too much to Iran and the deal will not stop Iran from achieving nuclear capability. Further, Israel Intelligence Minister Yuval Steinitz says there is no reason for the world to be celebrating a deal based on “Iranian deception.” Steinitz is right! America is being duped by a country that calls us “The Great Satan” and believes we Americans should be exterminated.

The Obama administration has made an egregious mistake. Our closest ally, Israel, must be prepared to launch a preventive strike against Iranian nuclear facilities.
