Coroner IDs man gunned down outside strip mall

A man killed in a shooting that injured two other people in a strip mall parking lot on Sunday has been identified as Darren Lawerance, 21, of Las Vegas, according to Clark County Coroner’s Office officials.

Metro Police responded about 4 a.m. Sunday to reports of gunfire coming from a business complex in the 5100 block of Spring Mountain Road, near Decatur Boulevard. Officers arrived to find Lawerance and two other people suffering from gunshot wounds, police said.

All three victims were transported to University Medical Center. Lawerance died shortly after 5 a.m., from a gunshot wound to his chest, coroner’s officials said.

One of the other victims was transported in extremely critical condition, while the third victim sustained injuries that were not life threatening, police said.

Metro is investigating the shooting.
