Apartment fire causes evacuation

A second-floor apartment caught fire Wednesday morning, causing the four-unit building to be evacuated until the fire was under control.

Clark County Fire responded at about 7:20 a.m. to reports of heavy smoke coming from the second floor of a two-story apartment building at 1372 Serape Circle, near Maryland Parkway and Desert Inn Road. Firefighters evacuated the building and extinguished the fire 10 minutes later, Deputy Chief Erik Newman said.

No residents or firefighters were injured in the incident. The fire caused about $75,000 in damage to the apartment.

Fire investigators are working to determine the cause for the fire.
