Hit-and-run leaves scooter driver in critical condition

Hit-and-run crash

A 24-year-old man driving a scooter is in critical condition today after he was the victim of a hit-and-run.

Metro Police responded to the collision about 2:40 a.m. at Rainbow Boulevard and Alta Drive. A man driving a scooter was stopped in the left lane of Rainbow at the intersection with Alta, when a black vehicle traveling north on Rainbow side-swiped the scooter, police said.

The impact of the collision sent the man on the scooter flying from the vehicle, police said. The man was taken to University Medical Center in critical condition.

The driver of the car drove off and was last seen traveling north on Rainbow. The vehicle is described as a black or dark-colored 2005 Ford sedan, police said.
