51s can clinch division during home series with Tucson

The Las Vegas 51s are inching closer to winning the Pacific Southern Division title.

Thursday, they finished a series at Colorado Springs by scoring six runs in the initial two innings for a 10-7 victory.

Today, they return home to Cashman Field with a two game lead against Sacramento heading into the final four games of the season, a series against Tucson.

Against Colorado Springs, Las Vegas pounded out 17 hits, including a two-run home run from Ruben Tejada in the first inning. Mike Baxter finished 3 for 5 for Las Vegas and hit a solo home run in the fourth.

Dustin Lawley went 3 for 5 with two runs and two RBIs, and Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Zach Lutz each had a pair of hits.

The first game against Tucson is 7:05 p.m. today.
