In reference to the column “For some, pain of Vietnam still exists,” the author is entitled to his own opinions but not his own facts.
The United States stopped flying combat missions in Vietnam in January 1973 when the piece treaty was signed.
Missions that took place until Aug. 15, 1973, were in Cambodia and well away from the border with Vietnam. I was there.
The recollections of the subjects of his piece were surely “muddied,” as stated.
