I was recently in Mexico and I noticed many police officers who were driving with their lights flashing at all times. The thought occurred to me: “Shouldn’t the police always make themselves known as a deterrent to crime or unsafe behavior?”
If you really wanted to make sure people obeyed laws and drove safely, wouldn’t it make more sense to make your presence known than to hide behind something and then “bust” someone? Is this a revenue thing? Public opinion toward officers would perhaps change if they acted as a part of the community, here to help, rather than a lurking enemy.
