Police: Road rage escalates into shooting along I-15

A bout of road rage rapidly escalated when one driver opened fire on another early this morning along Interstate 15, Metro Police reported.

The driver of a Nissan Maxima, identified Ricardo Tecera, 25, of California, was was tailgating the victim’s vehicle while they were both northbound on the interstate, police said.

The victim pulled over at the Primm exit near a gas station. After the victim exited the car, Tecera drove past and shot the victim in the abdomen shortly after midnight, police said.

Tecera continued toward Las Vegas and was taken into custody near Tropicana Avenue and Dean Martin Road, police said. He was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on counts of attempted murder and battery with a deadly weapon, authorities said.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was airlifted to University Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
