LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

Separate wishes from concerns

Letter writer Richard Mundy’s myopic view of politics doesn’t illustrate that the vast majority of Americans are highly dissatisfied with the Obama administration.

To prove his point that Republicans are alienating every minority in the country, he cites unsubstantiated reasons, including disrespect of Asians and Native Americans. Where did that come from?

As for disrespect of the president, what has Obama done to earn their respect? He has shown no leadership, circumvents Congress when he doesn’t get his way and offers no concrete solutions to the myriad problems facing Americans today.

Immigration reform will be dead as long as Harry Reid remains unyielding to what the Democrats want out of immigration reform. Reid is stalemating the Senate.

Also, the Republicans are not the only ones in opposition to abortion rights. The country appears evenly divided on the issue.

Social Security is fast going broke. Raising the retirement age is only a proposal to circumvent the reality that in 20 years or so, there will be no Social Security.

Mr. Mundy has been predicting the demise of the Republican Party for five years or so. When I last looked, they were still a viable entity in the world of politics. He needs to separate his wishes from his concerns when he opines about the state of politics in the United States.
