A house fire extended to a home next door Tuesday afternoon, causing four adults and two children to be displaced.

Las Vegas firefighters arrived about 3 p.m. to a house fire at 5612 and 5616 Alta Drive, near Jones Boulevard. The fire started at 5612 Alta Drive and then leapt to the home next door, Las Vegas Fire and Rescue spokesman Tim Szymanski said.

The fire began on the back patio of 5612 Alta, Szymanski said. Neighbors banged on the front door to alert a teenager and young child of the fire that was consuming the back of the house. Both escaped without injury. A woman next door escaped from her home and was treated on scene for smoke inhalation.

Three adults and two children were displaced from their home at 5612 Alta, and one adult was displaced from 5616 Alta, Szymanski said.

The fire caused $100,000 in damage to the home at 5612 Alta, and $25,000 in damage to the home at 5616 Alta. The cause of the fire is undetermined, Szymanski said.
