las vegas 51s:

Slow start too much for 51s to overcome in defeat to Tacoma

The Las Vegas 51s surrendered five first-inning runs Saturday in an 8-2 loss to visiting Tacoma for their fourth-straight defeat.

Kirk Nieuwenhuis and Andrew Brown each hit solo home runs for Las Vegas, but the 51s couldn’t overcome a balanced Tacoma attack. Eight of nine Tacoma starters had a hit; eight different players scored a run.

The teams conclude their four-game series at 12:05 p.m. Sunday.
