Bicyclist hit on Strip near Circus Circus critically injured

A bicyclist was in critical condition after being hit by a car early Friday on the Las Vegas Strip, according to Metro Police.

At 12:23 a.m., Hasani Washington, 21, was headed north on Las Vegas Boulevard, near Circus Circus Drive, in a 2007 Kia Spectra when he hit a bicyclist, also traveling north, from the rear, police said, citing witness statements and evidence at the scene.

The bicyclist, Joseph Palla, 58, was thrown from the mountain bike and taken to University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries, police said. Both men are from Las Vegas, police said.

The collision remains under investigation.
