Man checking on brother finds transient dead at homeless camp

Henderson Police are investigating the apparent slaying of a transient man found dead in a homeless encampment Tuesday night.

A man checking on his homeless brother called police about 6 p.m. Tuesday and reported that he thought there was a man dead at the encampment, police said.

Officers arrived at the camp in a desert area north of Lake Mead Parkway near Warm Springs Road and found a man, believed to be in his 30s, dead from apparent wounds, police said.

An autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause of death.

The man’s name will be released by the Clark County Coroner’s Office once he has been positively identified and his family has been notified.

The man’s death is the second homicide in Henderson this year.
