Blaze scorches site of shuttered Pahrump golf course

A foreclosed golf course caught fire Thursday in Pahrump, torching the closed course’s fairways and roughs, Nye County Sheriff’s Office officials said.

Pahrump Valley Fire-Rescue Service arrived about 1:20 p.m. at the former golf course near Red Butte Street and Mt. Charleston Drive. The fire was contained only to the grass area and did not affect the clubhouse, which is now occupied by a church congregation, officials said.

It was the second fire spotted on the golf course in two days, officials said. A smaller fire was reported near the clubhouse on Wednesday.

No one was injured in either fire.

Nye County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident and urges any witnesses who may have seen how the fires started to call (775) 751-7000.
