Nevada governor names new general counsel

CARSON CITY — A senior deputy in the State Attorney General’s Office has been named general counsel to Gov. Brian Sandoval.

The governor said Tuesday he has selected Michon Martin to replace Lucas Foletta, who left within the past week without explanation.

Martin has been the lead tobacco counsel on nationwide litigation and has served as attorney for the state Department of Public Safety, the Department of Motor Vehicles and the Department of Corrections since 2008.

Before that, she was an assistant district attorney in the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office.
