Marijuana plants found in Henderson house after fire

Police reported finding 200 to 300 marijuana plants growing at a house in Henderson after firefighters were called early today to put out a fire in the 900 block of Anchor Drive.

The fire was reported about 2:40 a.m. at the house near Racetrack and Warm Springs roads, the Henderson Fire Department said.

The Southern Nevada Cannabis Operation and Regional Task Force, made up of officers from local and federal law enforcement agencies, was called to investigate the discovery of the plants.

No one has been arrested, but police have identified suspects, Metro Police Officer Laura Meltzer said.

The fire did about $75,000 damage, but nobody was injured, fire officials said.

Investigators are still working to determine the cause of the blaze but said it appears to have been accidental, officials said.

Once the fire was knocked down, firefighters called police just before 4 a.m. and reported the marijuana plants, fire officials said.
