Fresno hits three home runs to down 51s

The Fresno Grizzlies put up runs in the first four innings and never looked back, beating the Las Vegas 51s 6-3 Wednesday in Fresno, Calif.

The Grizzlies (4-3) scored two in the first and fourth and one in the second and third to jump out to a quick 6-0 lead before the 51s (4-3) could get their offense going.

Fresno got home runs from Brett Pill, Chris Dominguez and Cole Gillespie. Pill’s two-run homer came in the first, while Dominguez and Gillespie hit solo shots in the second and third innings, respectively.

The 51s displayed a little bit of pop in their bats later on.

Landon Powell hit a solo shot in the fifth inning for the 51s, and Josh Satin hit a two-run home run in the sixth to cut the lead to three. It was Satin’s second four-bagger in as many nights.

But the 51s were unable to plate any more runs off Sandy Rosario and Jean Machi, who picked up his first save of the season.

Powell went 2-for-3, while Satin went 2-for-4.

Kensuke Tanaka went 2-for-4 with a double. He also had an RBI and a run scored.

Chris Heston took the win for Fresno, going six innings. He allowed six hits, one walk and struck out seven.

Chris Schwinden suffered the loss, allowing six runs on eight hits in four innings of work. He struck out three, but surrendered three home runs.

The 51s and Grizzlies finish off a four-game series 7:05 p.m. Thursday.
