School locked down as Metro Police search for burglary suspects

Wayne Tanaka Elementary School was locked down for a short time this afternoon while Metro Police searched for two burglary suspects, authorities said.

The lockdown was lifted at 2:40 p.m., police said.

Officers were dispatched to the area on a burglary call and attempted to stop a black or gray Nissan Altima at Arby Avenue and South Durango Drive, police said.

After a brief chase, the suspects jumped out of the car in the 6900 block of Silk Oak Court and were last seen running toward Monterey Cliffs Avenue, police said.

Police were still searching for the suspects.
