Home is where the money is.

Through the first two weeks of the NFL season, home teams are covering the spread at a rather profitable clip. They went 11-4-1 versus the Las Vegas number last week — including 14-2 straight-up — to improve their winning percentage to just less than 60 percent for the year.

Despite clearly needing all the help they can get, the Las Vegas Sun sports staff hasn’t completely jumped on board with betting home teams. Six of 11 selections against the spread in this week’s handicapping contest — over/under plays also are accepted — support the team playing in its own stadium.

The three members of the sports staff collectively have gone a paltry 13-23 in the contest, which requires them to make six picks per week. That’s not even the worst part, as plays selected by more than one of the contestants have gone 1-5.

The sole play to solicit two selections this week is the under in the Tampa Bay at Dallas game. Go ahead and bet the other side on that one.
