Alvarez and Lopez weigh in at MGM Grand
It was two Friday afternoon weigh-ins for two big-time fights Saturday night in the Entertainment Capital of the World, and contributing photographer Tom Donoghue was on duty for both occasions on the Strip.
Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. of Mexico (46-0-1) and Sergio Martinez of Argentina (49-2-2) weighed in at the Encore Theater in the Wynn (singer headliner Garth Brooks’ home turf); Chavez Jr. defends his WBC middleweight title against Martinez on Saturday night at UNLV’s Thomas & Mack Center.
Saul “Canelo” Alvarez of Guadalajara, Mexico, (40-0-1) and Josesito Lopez of Riverside, Calif., (30-4) weighed in at MGM Grand Garden Arena; Alvarez defends his WBC super welterweight title against Lopez at MGM Grand Garden Arena on Saturday night.
Both Saturday night cards are sold out -- 19,186 at the Thomas & Mack and more than 14,500 at MGM Grand Garden Arena. Thanks also to Richard Corey for his video of Alvarez and Lopez’s weigh-in posted on YouTube.
