19-month-old toddler’s death under investigation

Unresponsive infant dies

Metro Police homicide detectives are investigating the death of a toddler early Monday.

About 1 a.m. Monday, police were called to a residence on the 6300 block of West Tropicana Avenue, where a 19-month-old child was not breathing, said Metro spokesman Tom Clevenger. The child was transported to University Medical Center Pediatrics, where he was pronounced dead.

The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified the toddler as Mason Strause of Las Vegas. The cause and manner of the child’s death was pending, the Coroner’s Office added.
