Coroner identifies man who died in plunge from beltway

Area of accident

The Clark County Coroner’s Office has identified a 29-year-old man who fell to his death Friday from an overpass on the Las Vegas Beltway.

He is Alejandro Sanchez-Escoto of Las Vegas, the coroner’s office said.

Sanchez-Escoto was walking in a travel lane of the beltway about 4:30 a.m. Friday, according to Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Loy Hixson.

An officer tried to make contact with Sanchez-Escoto, who fled and jumped from the overpass onto Decatur Boulevard, police said.

He was pronounced dead as he was being transported to University Medical Center, Hixson said.

The cause and manner of Sanchez-Escoto’s death is pending.
