In reference to the article on the poor driving habits of Southern Nevada drivers, a simple tweak of the law would result in better driving habits for more people.

When a driver is stopped for a traffic violation, require the officer to forward the driver’s license of the offender to the assigned court. The license would then be returned to the driver upon that driver’s appearance in court.

The paper copy of the citation would work as a temporary driver’s license, but that driver would lack the photo ID necessary for entrance to many adult clubs, for the purchase of tobacco or alcohol, or to redeem a large jackpot at any casino. That threat would be enough to enforce the better driving habits of many offenders.
