35-year-old shot, killed outside North Las Vegas home

North Las Vegas Police are investigating a shooting that left a 35-year-old man dead in front of his home Monday night, officials said.

North Las Vegas resident Treanell Levell Matthews died from multiple gunshot wounds, according to the Clark County Coroner’s Office.

About 7:30 p.m., police responded to a shooting at Matthews' home in the 2100 block of Balzar Avenue, according to a news release issued late Monday by the North Las Vegas Police Department. Matthews died on scene.

Police are still searching for the suspect, who reportedly fled on foot.

The incident marks the eighth homicide in North Las Vegas in 2012.

  1. North Las Vegas should be fenced out of the rest of the city, sheesh!

  2. Really a resident here in North Town and read about just as many shootings in the other cities under the Las Vegas metropolitan area as there are here. I guess that goes for Aliante it is North Las Vegas. North Las Vegas is larger in area than the actual city boundaries of Las Vegas, though what is classified as Las Vegas in most of the articles is Unincorporated Clark County...."The Strip" does not even belong to Las Vegas, another portion of unincorporated Clark County (Paradise). Get to know your municipal boundaries before you start spouting about what to wall off.

  3. ~80 people are killed with guns every single day in the U.S.

  4. And Mark, more than that are killed each day by (take your pick) cars, alcohol, tobacco, drowning, poison (the list goes on)

    It seems that guns are about the least dangerous things in our daily lives.
