LAS VEGAS — A driver is dead and a passenger is seriously injured after a weekend rollover crash in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area.
National Park Service officials said they got a report of the crash on Northshore Road about 6 p.m. Sunday.
Witnesses said the vehicle was traveling north near mile marker 23 when the driver tried to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone. Officials said the vehicle rolled three times.
One person was pronounced dead at the scene, and the other was in critical condition and taken to a hospital by helicopter.
Nevada Highway Patrol officials are investigating. The names of the victims have not been released.
