Until politicians tell the American people the truth, we are in trouble. That truth: We are broke. We are $16 trillion in debt and borrow about $4 billion every day. We aren’t proud about who we borrow from — we borrow from everyone. We borrow from China, we borrow from ourselves, but mostly we borrow from our children and grandchildren! Many in our country are under the false impression that taxing the rich will solve the problem. If tax rates on the rich were to return to the rates of the Clinton era, the revenue obtained would be anywhere from $40 billion to $70 billion per year, a proverbial drop in the bucket. Our deficit has been over $1.2 trillion each of the past four years, adding over $5 trillion to the debt!

If (and I believe it’s a big if) the people in this country want us to be more like France with all their “free” stuff, then tax rates on everyone from poor to rich will have to rise exponentially!

Contrary to what you’ve been told, there is no free lunch! Remember, one of the big reasons European democracies could give their citizens all that “free” stuff is because since the end of World War II, we have spent trillions protecting them militarily.
