The presidential campaign just got very personal for me. I am an Agent Orange Vietnam veteran. I like to pride myself on being a moderate Democrat. I have two bumper stickers on the back of my car. On the left side is my Vietnam veteran sticker. On the right side, I have an Obama/Biden sticker.
On a recent afternoon, I went to the grocery store. When I came back out to the car, someone had taken a very hard metal object like a key and scratched Obama’s name out on the bumper sticker.
This person also managed to put deep scratches into my rear bumper.
Whomever you are out there, your shameful deed has only succeeded in making me more determined than ever to see that Barack Obama gets re-elected.

Whoever did it is a coward and wimp. BUT writer, don't assume it was an anti-Obama culprit. That may be but it also may not be. "Alinsky tactics" are ever at work and confounding the status quo.

Under the guise of 'love of country,' many of those who hate Obama, delude themselves that they do not like him because he did not and will not cut the deficit, that he made worst the unemployment, and that he made the economy worse. These are the major elements of their justifications for their hate. Reasonable explanations escape them, not for luck of understanding, but for refusal to understand.
Nothing can crack the hard shell of hatred. Like it or not, let's call it what it is. It is called Racism. Racism is no longer politically correct, but it doesn't mean it went away. It is alive and well in the hearts of those who believe in their superiority. It is apparent in their actions during unguarded moments: Telling THE President to "wait for your turn," reference toward those who only depend on the government (welfare and foodstamps), the chance to send him back to where he allegedly come from, the Birthers, the noose, the watermelon, calling him names, wanting to take a swing at him, and many other swipe these people utter in disgust that we do not even hear.
It is as if Obama singlehandedly drove this country toward the precipice. No one takes responsibility for his personal decisions; not individuals, not corporations, not the powers-that-be who did whatever
they could to make him a one-term President.
In a somewhat parallel vein, it reminds me of who always gets the blame when something breaks in my classroom. It is always Not Me.
Thomas,
I am sorry for the damage to your car and it is likely that the culprit is someone who disagrees with your views and choice for President. Shame on them or anyone that does this kind a crap on either side.
Unfortunately, these type of people are out there. I just hope that when this stuff happens, we all remember these people are a tiny potion of us, and no side has a 'corner' on these type of sorry individuals.

Romney's son has said he would like to hit Obama, the Romney campaign is encouraging violence Don't worry Obama is favored in Nevada,

Oh, please, Carmine. Don't be delusional.
Nancy,
I love reading your comments and agree with you 100%! Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us every day!
There is no place in society for such actions.
Hopefully, this person will get caught and punished.
Thomas,
I too am sorry for the damage to your car and I am pretty sure the person who did the damage does not agree with your political position. I understand exactly how you feel.
Thomas,
P.S. Thank you for your service in Vietnam.
Carmine is busy trying to cover for his kind...the right kind.
Thomas Mattingly, of Las Vegas,
There are people who are hateful and could care less about another person if a person does not look like them, or talk like them, or lives in the same neighborhood.
These people are cowards! They will throw a rock and hide their hands. It could be an adult, of a kid that vandalized your vehicle.
Based on the action against your property, you can go as far to call them low-life neighborhood terrorist.
"Oh, please, Carmine. Don't be delusional."
"Carmine is busy trying to cover for his kind...the right kind."
At my age, I've learned that things are NOT ALWAYS what they seem. And there is usually a story within the story if you can get it out. I don't get upset with others who don't know any better. I'm use to them.
Case in point Candy Crowley and President Obama.

Mr. Mattingly first of all thank you for your service to our country. The vandals, once found should not only pay for your damages but should in some way be prosecuted and at the very least get probation.
Voting for one person or another because of some idiot vandalized your vehicle is in my opinion not what you and others faught so hard for when you were in the military. Incidents like what happened to Samantha Pawlucy in Penn. is what you put your life on the line for. You know the 16 year old that wore a Romney T shirt to school and her teacher not only berated her publically but was callous enough to compare her to the KKK. Now thats something to really get pissed about. This is simply my opinion. On this forum we still haven't heard from the Libs, especially the teachers, what thier take is on this.
"Whoever did it is a coward and wimp. BUT writer, don't assume it was an anti-Obama culprit. That may be but it also may not be. "Alinsky tactics" are ever at work and confounding the status quo."
If it walks like a duck ... yada yada yada. Time to toss on the hip waders and drag out the shovels, far too much BS being tossed around. Some how right wingers manage to use the names Alinsky and Soros as if they control everything in this world.

Back at you .....with your own words.

Such behavior is disgusting. But I gotta say that had this been 40 years ago they would have done worse for just the 'Nam sticker. At least people seem to have learned how to separate the warrior from the war.
boftx - "But I gotta say that had this been 40 years ago they would have done worse for just the 'Nam sticker."
Excellent point boftx, well done. It just goes to show how peoples social values readjust over the years.
Mattingly,
Sorry for your unfortunate happenstance, but remember this old adage -- two wrongs don't make a right. Please forgo your vote for Obama.
Purgatory
I bet it was a unemployed person who is disgusted with the total failure of the "hope and change" malarky...
Nancy, that was a very good post. The detail of hatred that some of our fellow Americans have for one another may never change. I was raised to be prejudice as a young boy and so were a lot of other people from my neighborhood. It wasn't until I was old enough to think for myself that I realized that this kind of thinking was all wrong.
Only a teacher like yourself can see the difference in how people change their thinking over the years.I will say times are a lot better for all different races of people today, and will continue to improve as time goes by.Thank you for your knowledge and good posts.
Thomas......
Destruction of anothers property is more proof
of republican extremism and desperation.
A sad state of affairs.
Mr Mattingly wrote:

He was already going to vote for Obama, and this was the icing on the cake.
There is no evidence of the age of the vandal, so it could have been any extremist who could bend over or crouch down.
No matter what age, it was a malevolent behavior that demonstrates a disturbed mind.
Pastors regularly give homilies on parking lot behavior and manners as leaving Sunday Mass. Parishioners just receive the Body and Blood of Christ and forget and ignore having done so when they leave the Church parking lots. Human beings are weak and frail when it comes to love of others and putting others first. Sad but true. We go to Church on Sundays and then go directly to heck for what we do on Mondays.
